Your thermostat is wired directly to your heating and/or air conditioning
system. It measures the temperature and turns the HVAC system on and off to
achieve your desired temperature. The temperature can be adjusted manually or
programmed based on a daily schedule. More specifically, once the temperature
is more than one degree below or above the programmed set point, your
thermostat will send a signal to your HVAC system, and the heat or air
conditioning will turn on or off.
